How Do I Get My Appliance Serviced?

Arguably the most dreaded part of owning an appliance is the potential service calls that may come up during its life. Our goal here is to provide you with some insight into the process of getting service in an effort to alleviate potential stress that may otherwise come from the process.

How Long is My Appliance Covered after I Purchase it?

While some manufacturers offer longer warranty periods, most household appliances will come with a 12-month factory warranty that will cover parts and labor on factory defects. It is important to understand that these warranties will only cover factory defects and not any breakage that may come from improper use or treatment of the unit.

What does an Extended Warranty Offer Me?

In addition to peace of mind, an extended warranty will offer you parts and labor protection after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. It is worth noting that the extended warranty starts at the same time as the manufacturer’s as it provides some additional coverage for non-defect related damage, like a power surge.

During the extended warranties coverage, you will also be able to benefit from food loss allowances, laundry credits, and unit replacement in the event a unit is deemed irreparable. After the manufacturer’s warranty is terminated, you will still have parts and labor coverage under an extended warranty unit until its expiration either 2-, 3-, or 5-years after the date of purchase.

Who Should I Contact About Service?

If your unit is under warranty (manufacturer or extended) you can usually set up your appliance for service online, which allows you to skip the wait on hold. If you get stuck, feel free to contact us and we can point you in the right direction.

Even if your warranty coverage has expired, we’re happy to help you locate a servicer here locally who might be able to help. There are a lot of great teams out there, and if you are looking for references, please reach out to us.

What if I Have a Recalled Appliance?

While each instance and manufacturer will likely require different steps in order to handle these cases, what will likely happen is that you will have to contact the manufacturer directly for assistance. If you are unsure how to get a hold of the manufacturer, please reach out to us and will happily get you on track.
